Mall Goth: Goth Style Guide

Mall goth started as a dismissive label for a late-1990s and early-2000s look: Hot Topic, nu metal, industrial rock, striped sleeves, platform boots. Whatever people thought of the name, it was a real entry point into alternative music for a lot of people.

The wardrobe is specific to that turn of the millennium: oversized band tees, wide black trousers, chains, studded belts, heavy eyeliner. Treat it as its own era, not as the origin of goth. The records and the attitude still matter more than the mall.
